Henry, Nala & Hermione

After making a joke about getting another piggy which was swiftly dismissed, I went to Pets At Home to get a few bits and pieces. Like always, I had a peek into the animal enclosures and saw a lovely ginger and white Peruvian guinea pig.

I spoke with a shop assistant who checked the sex of the little one only to be told he was a boar. After a quick hold of the fella, I gave him back, purchased my bits and went home.

Within 2 hours I was back at the shop collecting the little man! This is Henry and he was 8 ½ weeks old when he came home with me on May 30th 2010.

Henry was neutered at the beginning of July 2010. Although it went well, he had a few problems in the weeks following the operation. Initially, the hair around his rear end stayed wet for a few days. I cut a lot of it back however he got a UTI which was treated.

Nala and Hermione are two sows both from Becklen Guinea Pig Rescue.

Nala was found at an animal auction with her brother Simba in a box which had "ok to go to the meat man" written on it. She was approximately 5 weeks old.

When she arrived at the rescue, she had a bad mite infestation which left no hair on her belly. This was treated and she was put on pregnancy watch due to being with her intact brother. Luckily she wasn't pregnant and was able to be rehomed.

Hermione was born on July 6th 2010 at the rescue and is a Dark Eyed White (DEW). She is the daughter of Darcy (also DEW) and Patrick (grey Rex).

Nala and Hermione were both located at the rescue in Gretna Green when Becklen agreed to let me adopt them. They were paired together and moved down to the rescue in Penrith. They were then moved to a foster carer in Warrington and on August 27th 2010 my boyfriend and I made a 7 hour round trip to collect them.
